Move on

The satchel had a book and some keys.  I looked around quickly...really needed to pay better attention before charging in to stab things in the back.  In the shadowed area opposite the stairs we'd come down were some cages with .. ick, that explained the smell.  One of the bodies looked fresh, so I unlocked the cage to take a look.  The man had been dressed in what looked like nice leathers, but those were shredded by something sharp.  The skin underneath was unmarked though.

I checked some of his pockets while Hadvar talked to the mage some more.  I found what looked to be a lockpick by virtue of stabbing myself with the sharp end.  Stuffing that into my knapsack, I stepped out of the cage.  "Is he staying?"

Hadvar sounded disgruntled, "Yes.  But that's not my problem anymore.  There is an exit this way.  Let's go."

I followed him through a door in the far corner of the room and into a room full of dangling cages full of skeletons and less decomposed bodies.  There was a chill in the air and that was probably the only reason that this charnalhouse didn't smell like the tail end of some form of Hell.

Hidden behind a bookshelf was an iron barred door that he pushed through.  "This isn't locked...Some of those Stormcloaks must have slipped through before we came down.  Be careful ahead."

I nodded and looked down, taking care to step quietly.  Stormcloaks...the guys I was with when I woke up?  I guess if anyone was going to be put to death they couldn't be all good.  ... Except that counted for me now.  Ugh, I was so confused.  I needed to stop worrying about that kind of stuff until I was someplace safe.

There were voices up ahead.  Someone barking orders.  I tapped Hadvar on the arm and nodded ahead.  He looked skeptical for a moment, then with a glance at the side of my head he nodded and moved forward.  Curious, I reached up and ran my hand through my hair.  Pointed ears.  Stranger by the moment.  Move on...move on.  Don't need the fog now.  Move on.
